MD/PhD Program Student Groups

Student groups in NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) provide an opportunity for students to work with their peers outside of the lab and to get to know fellow students with similar interests. Joining a student group is also an excellent way to network and develop leadership skills.

Student Operating Committee

The Student Operating Committee consists of student representatives throughout the program who plan social outings; help organize program-wide events (interviews, revisit, retreats, holiday party); find ways to improve student life; and communicate with the program co-directors about issues important to students in the program.

Women of MSTP x NYU

Women of MSTP x NYU (WoMxN) is a community built on empowerment and support. Our mission is to support women MD/PhD students in addressing specific challenges faced by women as an underrepresented group along the career path, from applicant to student to physician-scientist. Events include lunch sessions with invited women physicians–scientist speakers, workshops where we discuss current and potential career obstacles unique to women and that affect women differently than men, wellness-bonding workouts around New York City, and more. Sessions are open to all students because we recognize that “women’s issues” often affect men as well, and that both men and women are invested in working to change gender inequality.
