NYU Langone’s clinical microbiology laboratory, located at Tisch Hospital and directed by Jeffrey S. Jhang, MD, has a vast and comprehensive test menu to assist in the diagnosis of infectious diseases.

In addition to serving the diverse patient population at Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital—34th Street, and Rusk Rehabilitation, we provide clinical microbiology services to NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, NYU Langone Health—Cobble Hill Emergency Department at the Joseph S. and Diane H. Steinberg Ambulatory Care Center, Perlmutter Cancer Center—34th Street, and Perlmutter Cancer Center—38th Street. We also provide services to NYU faculty group practice offices located in Manhattan.

We provide comprehensive services in all divisions of microbiology, including bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, mycobacteriology, and rapid diagnosis by molecular methods.

Our clinical microbiology laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to process, identify, and test for antimicrobial susceptibility. It will very soon move to a newly renovated area that will have fully automated bacteriology processing and microbial identification.
