Description

This course is intended for students who plan a career in radiology, medicine or surgery and the subspecialties. Students will be instructed in the basic fundamentals of abdominal imaging and will participate in the reading sessions and departmental and interdepartmental conferences. The varied rotations are tailored for the individual students’ educational goals.

Objectives of the Elective

The objective of this elective is to offer the student an opportunity to observe how radiology contributes to patient care. It is hoped that the student will acquire an appreciation for the various imaging modalities and their application to the evaluation of abdominal disease.

Key Responsibilities of the student while on Elective

  1. The student is expected to attend the clinical abdominal imaging read out sessions, the weekly Body Club (5:00 PM on Tuesday) at Alumni Hall A and weekly M&M Conference (Thursdays @ 7:00 am Alumni Hall Farkas Auditorium or Alumni Hall B) room can be variable check with Resident.
  2. Students are encouraged to observe and help with procedures where applicable.

Didactic Program

Students are guided to those conferences which are considered appropriate.

Method of Evaluation

The students are evaluated on the basis of interest shown, attendance, and clinical knowledge. Students are expected to present a case seen in the first week to be presented on the last day of the rotation as a final exam, in PowerPoint.
