Pediatrics Residency Application

NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Residency offers 18 positions on the general pediatric categorical track and 2 on the pediatric neurology preliminary track. Initial appointments to the training program are made through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) of the Association of American Medical Colleges by November 1 of the year preceding the academic year for which you are applying. Written or emailed applications will not be considered.

To apply, you must submit a CV, a personal statement, a medical school transcript, a dean’s letter, three letters of recommendation (one must be in pediatrics), and results of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 through ERAS.

Candidates may be invited to visit for interviews and tours, but not all qualified candidates can be accommodated because of the large number of applications received.

Initial appointments to the Pediatrics Residency begin on July 1 of each academic year. Residents are reappointed annually upon recommendation by the residency program director, assuming satisfactory clinical and academic performance.

International Applicants

Applications are accepted from highly qualified candidates who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States under the J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor Program. J-1 sponsorship is available through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Prior clinical experience in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada is strongly encouraged.

Please note that in order for the House Staff Selection Committee to consider an international medical graduate’s application, ECFMG certification is essential.

Externships or observerships for international graduates are not offered.

NYU Langone does not offer H-1B visa sponsorship for house staff, residents, or fellows.
