Clinical & Translational Science Institute Patient & Community Advisory Groups for Research

At NYU Langone we believe that when patients, families, and healthcare providers build partnerships, the results are improved safety, higher quality of care, better patient outcomes, and more supportive experiences for patients and families.

Patient Advisory Council for Research

Our Recruitment and Retention Core engages the Clinical and Translational Science Institute Patient Advisory Council for Research to provide feedback and patient voices on research projects that are in the early planning stages.

Council members, who vary by age, race, gender, and health conditions, attend meetings every other month and give feedback on research ideas, as well as the acceptability and feasibility of studies from a patient perspective. They also provide guidance on how best to advertise studies to specific populations.

Community Advisory Board

The Community Engagement and Population Health Research (CEPHR) program convenes the Clinical and Translational Science Institute Community Advisory Board on a quarterly basis. The group represents a diverse cross-section of New York City’s racial and ethnic communities, including representation from healthcare community, social service, neighborhood, and faith-based organizations. The mission of the Community Advisory Board is to create healthier communities across New York City by promoting equitable research partnerships between community stakeholders and researchers.

The Community Advisory Board members provide guidance on community-engaged research strategies for developing and maintaining sustainable community partnerships, assist in identifying research priorities, and provide a community perspective on the development, implementation and dissemination of research and research training programs.
