NYU Langone’s Departments of Urology and Obstetrics and Gynecology jointly offer a Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship through NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our program is open to both urology and obstetrics and gynecology residents who have completed their primary training. Program length is three years for obstetrics and gynecology applicants and two years for urology applicants.

Because we strive to have urology-trained and obstetrics and gynecology–trained fellows in the program at all times, the number of open positions each year varies from one to three.

Clinical training with our board-certified faculty from both departments and a strong grounding in clinical and translational research prepare fellows to excel in clinical or academic practice. Graduates of our program are eligible to participate in licensing examinations for subspecialty certification in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS).

Our program provides comprehensive training in clinical knowledge, surgical skill, research methodology, and leadership. In addition, our fellows serve as teachers and role models for residents and medical students rotating on the FPMRS service.

Fellowship Faculty

Our faculty members provide fellows from urology and obstetrics and gynecology with the intellectual, surgical, and clinical skills that are necessary for the delivery of the highest standard of care.

Benjamin M. Brucker, MD

Dr. Brucker is director of the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine, Reconstructive Surgery, and Neurourology, as well as the fellowship. He is also the director of neurourology at NYU Langone’s Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center.

In addition to his clinical interests in urinary incontinence, lower urinary symptoms, and pelvic organ prolapse, Dr. Brucker has expertise in neurourology, robotic and vaginal surgery, and voiding dysfunction.

Nirit Rosenblum, MD

Dr. Rosenblum is co-director of the fellowship. She cares for female patients with pelvic floor disorders and urinary incontinence, as well as both male and female patients with neurological disorders necessitating long-term urologic care at NYU Langone and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.

In 2005, Dr. Rosenblum developed NYU Langone’s minimally invasive approach to pelvic organ repair utilizing the da Vinci robot system. She trains fellows in robotic techniques for pelvic organ prolapse repair. She is also interested in incontinence treatments, female sexual dysfunction, and lower urinary tract symptoms, as well as recurrent urinary tract infections in women at all ages.
