Julia Zelmanovich Young Alumni Award

NYU Grossman School of Medicine established the Julia Zelmanovich Young Alumni Award in 2002 in memory of Julia Zelmanovich, MD, class of 1997. Born in the Soviet Union and raised in Israel, Dr. Zelmanovich came to the United States in the 11th grade, unable to speak English. She later excelled at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where she received her MD degree.

While vacationing in Israel during the summer of 1998, she died tragically in a motor vehicle accident. In honor of Dr. Zelmanovich, NYU Grossman School of Medicine presents this special award to young alumni who act as role models, demonstrating compassion, dedication, an inquiring mind, and loyalty to the medical profession.
