Qualified college students who have completed their sophomore or junior year of college and have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a PhD or MD/PhD in the biomedical sciences are encouraged to apply to our Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP).

SURP Application Timeline

Our program is very competitive. We review each application carefully and select students who show a sincere interest in research. This means we choose students who have pursued opportunities to conduct research. Although we do not specify the amount of research experience that is necessary to be considered, competitive applicants have independent work experience in a laboratory.

We send notifications of the admissions committee’s decision in mid-March. We do have a short waiting list, and wait-listed applicants are notified later in March or early April if a spot becomes available.
