Overview

NYU Langone’s Institute for Systems Genetics (ISG) was established in January of 2014 under the direction of Dr. Jef Boeke. ISG leverages a systems approach to exploit the recent explosion of information in human biology and medicine, creating unprecedented opportunity for breakthroughs in improving human health. The goal of ISG is to create a cohesive center to bring together a diverse group of human and model organism geneticists, technology developers in ‘omics, computational biologists and individuals taking an engineering approach to biology. The ISG and NYU Medical Center partnership represents an opportunity to build on existing strengths in the Institutes, Centers, and Departments at NYU in human basic and clinical biology, bioinformatics, epigenetics, neuroscience, and regenerative medicine, and create a vibrant research and teaching environment for genetics and genomics.
