Our members review and oversee research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including human gene transfer experiments. In addition, research using the following is also subject to IBC registration and approval:

  • select agents and toxins
  • human and non-human primate pathogens
  • toxins affecting humans and non-human primates
  • oncogenic biological materials
  • human and non-human primate cells, tissues, organs, blood, and body fluids that contain Risk Group 3 or Risk Group 4 infectious agents.
