Plastic Surgery Training for Medical Students Plastic Surgery Club

Plastic Surgery Club

The Plastic Surgery Club, organized with the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery, serves as a forum and a starting point for first- and second-year medical students at NYU Grossman School of Medicine who share a common interest in the specialty.

Club activities include a lecture series and interactive meetings through which you explore clinical aspects of plastic surgery and the latest research developments in the field.

At the beginning of each year, the club hosts an informal meet and greet, which gives medical students the opportunity to network with our attendings and residents. Additionally, we hold regular meetings with plastic surgery faculty and residents to discuss various topics in the field, such as craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, pediatric plastic surgery, burn reconstructive surgery, and aesthetic surgery.

Club members also have the invaluable opportunity to attend grand rounds and form advisor–advisee relationships with the plastic surgery attendings.

Medical students can email Jonathan L. Bass, MD, associate professor in the Hansjörg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery, at jonathan.bass@nyulangone.org, to request an opportunity to observe or assist in plastic surgery cases. This allows you to participate in the discipline early in your medical school career.

Club members are also encouraged to apply to the Plastic Surgery Summer Research Program.
