The hematopathology services provided by NYU Langone’s Department of Pathology confirm diagnosis of hematopoietic diseases using histology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and cytogenetic and molecular pathology.

Directed by Arnaldo A. Arbini, MD, the hematopathology laboratory is staffed by 5 board-certified and experienced hematopathologists who process more than 7,000 specimens per year. These include 1,400 solid lymphoid tissue specimens and 1,500 bone marrow specimens.

Our pathologists work closely with clinicians in hematology and oncology to assist in patient care, incorporating morphology, immunophenotypic data, genotypic data, and cytogenetic data.

Turnaround Time

The turnaround for routine requests is three to five days.
