Ergonomics & Biomechanics MS Admissions

We are currently not accepting applications to our MS in Ergonomics and Biomechanics program for fall 2023 but invite you to learn more about our program. Please check back for updates.

For admission into the MS in Ergonomics and Biomechanics, applicants must have an undergraduate degree, or its equivalent, in biology, physics, engineering, or health-related sciences with a cumulative GPA of B (3.0) or higher.

All students are required to have successfully completed undergraduate courses in musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology, physics, and calculus. These admission criteria are in addition to the general requirements of NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) and specific environmental health sciences requirements.

We encourage all interested students to contact the program administration for a preadministration consultation. You are required to submit a complete application for admission consisting of the following information:

  • Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test scores
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores, for applicants who are not native English speakers
  • your CV, with clear information regarding your professional or academic experience
  • a statement of purpose
  • three letters of recommendation

A personal interview, if requested by the admissions committee, may also be required. Applications are accepted on an open basis for admission for the fall semester only. You apply through the GSAS at NYU. Learn more about admission to GSAS, including the GSAS application resource center, information for international applicants, and tuition and fee rates.

The MS program is housed in NYU Langone Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center. For more information, contact Shira Schecter-Weiner, PhD, PT, coordinator of the MS program, at ssw219@nyu.edu, or Ali Sheikhzadeh, PhD, director of research and education, at ali.sheikhzadeh@nyu.edu.
