Research Support Service

At NYU Langone’s Research Support Service, our experienced staff optimizes your experimental research by providing exceptional glass wash and sterilization, reagent preparation, maintenance of cold storage, research autoclaves, and water purification systems. We also manage the Small Instrument Fleet to provide researchers with access to advanced tools for the analysis of samples, and our vendor program offers reagents and lab supply from reliable vendors.

These services are available to our faculty, staff, and graduate students and can be requested using the iLab software. For any questions about services, contact us at rss@nyulangone.org.

We have provided iLab login instructions for NYU Langone, NYU, NYU College of Dentistry, and external users.

Reagent Preparation

Research Support Services produces an extensive catalog of in-house stock reagents as well as special order reagents though our reagent preparation.

The list of available reagents and pricing are reviewed and can be ordered using iLab. Orders are typically completed within five business days.

You can pick up reagents from our lab spaces at NYU Langone’s Joan and Joel Smilow Research Center, room 304 (522 First Avenue), Alexandria Center for Life Sciences East Tower 316 (450 East 29th Street), Alexandria Center for Life Sciences West Tower 543 (430 East 29th Street), and NYU Langone’s Science Building, room 216 (435 East 30th Street). In all locations, our staff is available to assist from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, while you have access 24/7 by entering with your ID badge. You must sign out reagents on the computer provided. Instructions are posted onsite.

If you need any new reagents added to our available list, or if you have any further questions or comments, email mediaprep@nyulangone.org.

Glass Wash and Sterilization Services

The Research Support Service team is composed of highly skilled and experienced professionals who provide glassware and plasticware washing and sterilization services to our research laboratories.

Glassware and Plasticware Washing Service

Glassware and plasticware are picked up daily, cleaned, and normally returned within 24 hours.

Glassware should be clearly labeled using the lab’s unique code, thoroughly rinsed out, and placed in glass wash bins. The bins should be kept clean and dry for the Research Support Service group to pick up.

Glassware from Biosafety Level 1 (BSL-1) and BSL-2 laboratories needs to be decontaminated prior to the rinsing out.

Sterilization Service

For sterilization service during the workday, items should be labeled with the principal investigator’s name and location, taped with autoclave tape provided by our staff at the drop-off location, and placed on the designated cart in the glass wash facilities of each building. The last daily drop off is noon.

Autoclave self-service could be performed every day after 4:00PM, and training for operating autoclave is provided upon request.
