Division of Global Women's Health
Director: Veronica Ades, MD, MPH
The Division of Global Women’s Health provides educational and research opportunities for students, residents and faculty within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Our division is dedicated to collaborating with partners at an international, national and local level. To date, we have partnered with various local academic and medical centers to participate in programs in sub-Saharan Africa and throughout the Americas. In each initiative, our students and physicians endeavor to engage in partnerships with the communities in which we work to build capacity through bidirectional learning opportunities thus supporting sustainable medical and public health programs and focused, collaborative research.
Within our division, our aims are to:
- Foster global health collaboration opportunities for faculty, fellows, residents and students
- Create research opportunities for students, residents, fellows and faculty from the University of Ghana and NYU School of Medicine
- Identify target areas for intervention within Obstetrics and Gynecology at Korle Bu Hospital and its referral centers
- Develop and test cost-effective interventions to improve maternal, fetal and neonatal outcomes that can be replicated in other high-volume, low-resource health facilities
