NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers the Allergan Foundation Fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a one-year fellowship in our Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery.

Facial and reconstructive surgery fellows gain experience in the roles of both primary and assisting surgeon and split time between four high-volume practice settings. Your responsibilities include the following:

• supervising the facial plastic surgery clinic and serving as the teaching surgeon for residents at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue
• performing cosmetic procedures alongside Philip J. Miller, MD, and David B. Rosenberg, MD, in accredited private, office-based surgical facilities
• operating with Norman J. Pastorek, MD, at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan

Surgical Training

Fellows perform the full range of cosmetic facial plastic surgery procedures, including face-lifts and neck lifts; liposuction; blepharoplasty; brow lifts; rhinoplasty; otoplasty; and placement of facial implants for the chin, jaw, cheek, nose, and temple. Other noninvasive, in-office services to treat aging skin include botulinum toxin (Botox^®) and filler injections, laser therapy, and dermabrasion.

Reconstructive procedures fellows gain experience with the full spectrum of facial trauma surgery, reconstruction of skin defects after Mohs surgery, and reanimation surgery for facial paralysis.

Fellows have full operating privileges as attending physicians at Bellevue.

Research Opportunities

Fellows complete one major clinical research project and submit for publication as part of the fellowship requirement. You are expected to significantly contribute to the division’s publication efforts and are responsible for coordinating medical student and resident facial plastic surgery clinical research.

Teaching Opportunities

Fellows serve as teaching staff surgeons with senior attending supervision and mentor residents at Bellevue and the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System. As part of your duties as an instructor of clinical otolaryngology at NYU Langone, you also participate in facial plastic surgery resident teaching conferences.
