I graduated from Autonomous University of Madrid with a BS in Biology and a Masters in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
I received my PhD in Biology at the Center for Molecular Biology Severo Ochoa in Madrid, Spain.
My graduate studies focused on the identification and characterization of alternative splicing and chimerism events within the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class III region, in genes such as the Receptor for Advanced Glycation Endproducts (RAGE), G6F and the Lymphocyte antigen 6 complex locus G6D (LY6G6D).
I recently joined the Diabetes Research Program at NYU as a postdoctoral fellow. My current research projects include investigating the role of resident heart macrophages in aging and in diabetic complications such as heart failure.
