Health Equity Symposium

NYU Langone’s Section for Health Equity, in collaboration with NYU Langone’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Department of Population Health, Office of Diversity Affairs, Institute for Excellence in Health Equity, and the NYU-CUNY Prevention Research Center, sponsors the annual Health Equity Symposium. The symposium features a keynote address; a series of short, engaging talks on the work being done to address health disparities and to achieve health equity; a panel discussion on controversies in population health; a listening session on community perspectives of research; and a poster session.

Our 2023 event was held from October 3 through October 5.

Techquity: Revolutionizing Equitable Access to Healthcare Care

Each year, the symposium aims to highlight the current state of health disparities through the lens of a specific theme. The 2023 conference focused on technology, digital literacy, and digital equity. The conference explored digital equity as a social determinant of health, frameworks, using technology to reach hard-to-reach populations, digital strategies, virtual healthcare delivery, controversies, and more.

Keynote Speaker

The keynote speaker for our 2023 symposium was Raina Merchant, MD, MSHP, FAHA, vice president and chief transformation officer at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
