My research focuses on finding MR imaging biomarkers that can identify traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients at risk of having persistent cognitive symptoms, offering a quantitative means to tract injury and recovery in the cognitive domain and potentially track efficacy of targeted cognitive therapeutic strategies such as cognitive rehabilitation and integrated behavioral health treatment. We will reveal the relationship between micro-/macrostructural changes and cognitive performance occurring after injury.
In addition, my research also focuses on developing a novel susceptibility-based MRI technique to resolve thalamic internal structure, offering direct and subject-specific targeting in patients with essential tremor or tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease for the MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) tremor treatment guidance.
