The Urology conferences are designed to provide
the residents with a comprehensive, didactic exposure to all aspects
of Urology. The
specific conferences are as follows:
RADIOLOGY:
Faculty members from the Department of Radiology prepare monthly
Pediatric Radiology and Adult Radiology conferences, respectively.
These didactic and case-oriented presentations provide the Urology
resident with a practical uroradiology experience. The resident
learns to critically review GU imaging studies in the adult and
pediatric
patient.
PATHOLOGY:
Drs. Jerry Waisman (Professor of Pathology) and Jonathan Melamed
(Associate Professor of Pathology) prepare a monthly GU
Pathology conference. All of the GU organ systems are reviewed over a two-year
period.
JOURNAL CLUB:
All of the residents participate in the monthly
Journal Club.
The residents learn to critically review the Urology
literature.
DIDACTIC LECTURES: The faculty
and residents prepare didactic lectures throughout the year on
selected topics in Urology.
GRAND ROUNDS: Once a week,
residents present interesting cases, and attendees discuss the
diagnostic and therapeutic management
of the presented cases. This conference is intended to prepare
the resident for Part 2 of the Urology Boards. A GU radiologist
and pathologist are available to discuss pertinent radiological
and pathological findings. Visiting lecturers and professors also
make grand rounds presentations during the year.
MORBIDITY & MORTALITY: Residents
present current cases from all three hospitals for review and
discussion.
UROGYNECOLOGY CONFERENCE: The
divisions of female urology and urogynecology have a monthly
joint conference with didactic
teaching and Journal
Club. The division of female urology has their own periodic
conferences to discuss interesting and challenging clinical scenarios.
WARD ROUNDS: Tisch
residents meet with Dr. Ojas Shah to discuss in-house patient
management issues
and difficult cases on
Monday afternoons.
STATE OF THE ART COURSE: The
Department of Urology hosts an annual Adult and Pediatric Urology
state-of-the-art
course with distinguished
visiting professors and lecturers. The course if well
