The mission of the NYU Department of Urology is to advance the practice and science of medicine through a commitment to: effective and compassionate patient care; innovative clinical and laboratory research; and resident, medical student and postgraduate education. Urology residents play an integral role in the realization of the Departmental mission.
We, as a Department, are committed to provide excellence in patient care. The faculty and residents are copartners in providing the highest caliber of urological care. Delivering effective and compassionate urological care requires state of the art facilities, thorough and thoughtful integration of clinical data, compassionate interactions with patients and their families and technical expertise. The Urology faculty is committed to equip our residents with the intellectual, technical and interpersonal skills that are prerequisites for delivering the highest standard of urological care. Urology residents are encouraged to actively participate in the clinical and laboratory research activities that are ongoing in the Department. It is through these experiences that the resident gains an appreciation for the scientific method. Urology residents also function in the capacity of both student and teacher. They serve as teachers and role models for medical students rotating on the Urology service.
