Division of Vascular Neurology

The Division of Vascular Neurology, part of NYU Langone’s Department of Neurology, provides expert diagnosis and treatment to people who have the most difficult and complex disorders affecting how blood flows through the brain, such as stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and cerebrovascular disorders. Led by Albert S. Favate, MD, our division is also dedicated to advancing academic medicine through stroke research and educating the next generation of vascular neurologists through our vascular neurology fellowship.

At NYU Langone’s Comprehensive Stroke Center, a component of the broader Center for Stroke and Neurovascular Diseases, our clinicians provide accurate diagnosis of stroke, as well as rapid, expert treatment. Named Manhattan’s first primary stroke center—and now one of the country’s leading stroke programs—our center brings together the high-volume stroke units of Tisch Hospital and NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn.

The center’s certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission underscores NYU Langone’s commitment to supporting patients all along the stroke care continuum. At the core of the division’s full spectrum of care is our integrated, multidisciplinary team of stroke specialists who deliver innovative therapies informed by the latest research.
