The NIH has announced that it will continue a program of administrative supplements for scientists who have experienced a hiatus in their career from taking leave to care for children or other family responsibilities.

The supplement will support full or part-time research of the scientist for up to three years. Investigators currently holding one of the following types of awards from one of the NIH Institutes sponsoring this supplement: R01, R10, R18, R24, R35, R37, P01, P40, P41, P50, P51, U54, P60, U01,and U10 may apply on behalf of the candidate. Candidates are expected to have a plan to apply for a K award or other independent research funding at the end of the award period.
