Re: Grant Management Presentation
As part of our continuing effort to encourage good grant
management and adherence to federal rules and regulations,
we presented a brief slide presentation to the Dean and department
chairman at the Chairs Luncheon on May 26, 2005. The attached
presentation is a brief case study of how grants may be managed,
which generated dialogue stressing proactive oversight and
alternate approaches. It also touched on cost transfers,
what we have done, and what we need to do to limit them.
A sample graph, from a routine grant update package distributed
to principal investigators and administrators was reviewed,
and served to remind faculty that these reports are being
produced, distributed regularly, and hopefully utilized.
Kindly take a look at the attached and feel free to distribute
to your faculty and anyone else in your department associated
with sponsored programs. Should you have any questions or
comments, please feel free to contact me at extension 36671.
Please also note that the finance Sponsored Programs group
has been visiting departments to present a brief compliance
session with the faculty. If we haven't already contacted
you, or if you have something in particular you'd like addressed,
feel free to contact Suzanne Locke at extension 37006 to
make the necessary arrangements.
