The Faculty Group Practice is currently a group of over 425 physicians in 57 medical practices owned and operated as part of the NYU School of Medicine. The employed physicians in the Faculty Group Practice enhance the community's health, and further the institutional mission of the School of Medicine by broadening the understanding of patient needs and procedures, providing experience for medical students and residents, creating programs that result in translational research, and promoting the reputation, good will and support for the School of Medicine. The revenue generated from the clinical practices supports salaries and provides for the academic development of the School of Medicine.

The Faculty Group Practice Office maintains a core staff, which provides planning, business plans, operations oversight, compliance programs, revenue cycle management, and other services which are needed in the daily operations of running the Faculty Group Practices.
