Program Description
Recent advances in science and
technology offers enormous possibilities for furthering our understanding
of kidney disease and for developing new therapies. The Renal
Division is committed to assembling the best clinicians and
scientists to pursue these goals, and is dedicated to training academic
nephrologists. We are especially interested in addressing important
research opportunities in nephrology that build on basic science
strengths at New York University School of Medicine. These areas
include, but are not limited to, renal transplantation and the role
of T-suppressor cells, chemokines/chemokine
receptors in kidney transplant rejection, model
systems for the study of renal disease in mice and lower organisms,
renal
cell carcinoma, and interstitial
fibrosis and progression of kidney disease. By recruiting into
these areas of scientific strength we will be able to provide a
collaborative and supportive environment for qualified candidates.
Recruitment into the program is led by Dr.
Edward Skolnik.
