Program Description
The Microbial Pathogenesis Program is seeking
to expand and strengthen our research in the fields of bacterial
and viral pathogenesis. We are particularly interested in investigators
who are developing new approaches and insights into the pathogenetic
mechanisms used by microbes to establish chronic infection and to
evade host defenses, as well as into the mechanisms leading to cell
and tissue damage and the microbial and cellular gene functions
involved in these processes.
The program complements our existing strength
in this area represented by of investigators with similar interests
in the Departments of Microbiology,
Medicine, Parasitology
and Pathology. It
occupies one floor adjacent
to the Medicine/Infectious
Disease Program, to facilitate interactions with scientists
that are part of this related program. We envisage recruiting 4-5
faculty. Recruitment for this program is led by Dr.
Claudio Basilico.
