Jon Massie is a member of the class of 2016 at NYU School of Medicine. He graduated as valedictorian from Michigan State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with High Honors. Among his many accomplishments, he received recognition from the Board of Trustees at MSU for “Achieving the Highest Academic Excellence” and was also awarded the “Outstanding Undergraduate Biochemistry Senior Award”. Additionally, he was published as first author in 2012 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) for his work on the cyclic di-GMP signaling pathway in bacteria. Outside the classroom, Jon serves as a co-leader of the LGBT People in Medicine student group. On the side, Jon enjoys playing the violin, and maintains his passion by performing with the Doctors Symphony Orchestra of NYC and leading the Chamber Musicians in Medicine Club here at NYU.
