Health Access Project

Vast health access barriers may prevent South Asian immigrants from accessing prevention, treatment, and support services. These are a result of a complex web of factors related to immigration status, language barriers, lack of health insurance, limited health care system knowledge, and cultural beliefs.

SAHI is working with health care providers, community and faith-based organizations, government agencies, and policy makers to lessen the isolating effect of health access barriers. This will facilitate the increased provision and utilization of linguistically, and culturally, appropriate prevention, treatment, and support services that are available for underinsured and uninsured populations.
