The Graduate Program in Neuroscience & Physiology has experienced some major
changes over the past year. There is a new program office located in the Smilow
building, room 501B in which Dr. Stewart Bloomfield serves as coordinator and
Dr. Eric Lang is graduate advisor. This office now coordinates all graduate
courses and neuroscience seminars offered at the medical school as well as
joint efforts with the Center for Neural Science (CNS) at the Washington Square
campus. In addition, there has been further integration of the courses offered
by the Graduate Program in Neuroscience & Physiology and the CNS graduate program.
At present, the core neuroscience courses in cellular, systems, developmental,
and translational neuroscience are team-taught by both faculties and attended
by students within both graduate programs. Further integration of the training
programs will continue over the next year in the areas of student recruitment
and lab rotations. The ultimate goal is to create a seamless integration of
the neuroscience graduate programs at NYU.
