Vocational Evaluation
In the Diagnostic Vocational Evaluation, vocational potential is determined
by assessing aptitudes, interests, academic achievement, skills and
work tolerance. An individualized rehabilitation plan is developed by
the participant and the counselor which may include referral for specific
skills training or placement services. Unique components of the evaluation
include:
Professional consultation is also available and includes: medical intervention; cognitive and perceptual retraining; assistive devices; and occupational information interviews.
Training
The Work and Personal Adjustment Training program provides participants
an opportunity to acquire and refine the worker traits, skills and behaviors
necessary for successful career development. Each participant is assigned
to a worksite to develop relevant work habits and compensatory strategies
to actual job tasks within the work setting.
Job Placement
An outcome focused, comprehensive program designed to provide candidates
with effective strategies for navigating the job market. Intensive job
development is provided through a variety of resources including our
extensive Business Advisory network. Specific services also offered
to assist consumers find and maintain employment include: Placement
Readiness Assessment, Career Internships, Job Seeking Skills Training,
Job Clubs, Resume Preparation, and Post Employment
Follow-Up.
Vocational Counseling
Vocational counseling provides individualized career development in
an ongoing process examining functional limitations, interests, abilities,
objectives and values. It becomes a forum for exploration, goal setting
and implementation.
Computer Training
An intensive training program in Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft
Office XP provided in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Class size is limited to allow maximum student - instructor interaction.
Each participant is assigned a rehabilitation counselor for program
coordination, career and personal/work adjustment counseling, and goal
setting. Upon completion of classroom training, students have the opportunity
to participate in an internship related to their vocational goal.
Voice recognition software training, offered in individual sessions, is available for people who have limited ability to manipulate the mouse or keyboard.
