The Pediatric Psychology Service also provides the following services to families of children treated at the Rusk Institute:
• Educating family members about learning disabilities,
attentional or behavioral difficulties, and neurological injuries.
• Advocating for the patient's rights in appropriate school placement.
• Training at schools on issues related to disability and/or educational
needs to aid in reintegration into school.
• Counseling for siblings.
• Assisting the family in specific behavior modification or therapy issues
with their child.
• Assisting families and patients when going to painful or scary medical
procedures (e.g.: MRI, EEG, radiation/chemotherapies, etc.).
