Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Rehabilitation

Rusk Institute has a large Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) population. Approximately 1,800 SCI patients have been admitted to Rusk since 1950. This long history has allowed the Institute to develop many innovative clinical and educational programs necessary for comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with SCI.

The physiatrist closely supervises the rehabilitation therapy and follows the patient medically. In addition, consultative services are initiated as needed with the various specialists available at Tisch Hospital. After discharge, staff at the Institute continue to provide follow-up physiatric and urological services.
