A weekly telephone conference support group is offered to individuals who are not able to come to the hospital center for support and counseling. The support group is conducted in collaboration with the Stanley Isaacs Center, a community agency for the elderly.

The group consists of eight caregivers (with varied participation ranging from four to eight caregivers per session), primarily spouses and adult children, most of whom reside with the patient and provide hands-on care.

The operator at the Stanley Isaacs Center connects all the family caregivers first and then connects the facilitator. The facilitator conducts the group session from her desk.

Topics discussed during the telephone conferences include information on social services, home care, and nursing home placement. Medical information and support for coping with and managing caregiving is also provided.
