Multiple Sclerosis
People who are newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or who experience a worsening of symptoms may require a relatively brief, inpatient rehabilitation visit. Most patients are treated with a short course of intravenous corticosteroids followed by another steroidal medication taken orally which is gradually reduced. Anti-spasticity treatment may consist of medication and targeted therapies. Patients with Multiple Sclerosis are also assigned to one of the treatment teams on the Neuro-Rehabilitation Service and fully participate in all of the therapies offered. In addition, special therapy groups for patients with Multiple Sclerosis are offered on such topics as Energy Conservation, Stress Management, and Compensatory Techniques and Equipment.
