Description and Phases of the Program
To determine whether a person referred for treatment is
suitable for the New York University Medical Center/Rusk
Institute Brain Injury Day Treatment Program, each prospective
candidate must undergo a comprehensive evaluation. Suitable
candidates (i.e., patients who were pre-screened and who
underwent the comprehensive evaluation procedure) are placed
on a waiting list (on a first come, first served basis).
Treatments for new patient groups begin twice each year,
in February and September.
• Initial Comprehensive Evaluation
• Guided Work Trials (Second Phase)
• Intensive Remedial Treatment (First Phase)
• Post-Discharge, Maintenance/Follow-Up Therapy (Third Phase)
