Improving safety/accessibility for older adults
Accessible kitchen design
Bedrooms
Living/Dining rooms
Once an individual is referred to the Barrier-Free Design
Service, the occupational therapist can provide the following
services:
- Comprehensive functional evaluation
- In-home environmental assessment
- Detailed report of recommendations including:
- Guidelines for construction
- Guidelines for obtaining specialized equipment and products
- Scale drawings

Follow-up meetings with patient and family
- Assistance identifying other specialized services
