Exhibit Celebrating Rusk on Display in the Tisch Hospital Admitting Lobby

Rusk Exhibit in Tisch Hospital LobbyThe exhibit, "Rebuilding Rusk, Rebuilding Lives," celebrates the rich history and bright future of the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. It is currently on view in the Tisch Hospital Admitting Lobby, at 550 First Avenue.

The 18-panel hanging display recognizes the important role the Rusk Institute has played in setting the standard in the field of rehabilitation medicine since its founding in 1948 by Howard A. Rusk, M.D., the "father of rehabilitation medicine." The pictorial is wheelchair accessible, and includes photographs from Dr. Rusk's storied past, which includes numerous groundbreaking achievements, as well as dealings with U.S. presidents and sports legends.

Also on exhibit are images of current programs at the Rusk Institute, including adult and pediatric care, research and education, the Enid A. Haupt Glass Garden, Kerry Collins Computer Center and Classroom, and Leiter's Landing Foundation Playroom.

Looking to the future of Rusk, the display features plans for modernization.

"The Rusk Institute was the catalyst for the field of rehabilitation medicine yesterday, it continues on its path of excellence today, and it will be at the forefront of scientific discovery and patient care tomorrow," said Herb Zaretsky, Ph.D., Administrator and Clinical Associate Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Rusk Institute. "This museum-quality exhibit beautifully highlights the progressive vision of Dr. Rusk and depicts the Institute's continuing commitment to remain on the cutting edge of rehabilitation medicine now and in the years to come."
