The Rusk Institute Announces a Major Renovation of Its Inpatient Units

The Campaign to Modernize Rusk will enable us to make a series of critical improvements to three inpatient units, including two adult units on the first and fourth floors, and our pediatric unit located on the fifth floor.

Plans focus on providing more comfort and privacy—particularly for adult patients—and on alleviating congestion by reducing the number of multi-bed rooms. Two new private rooms will be created and many of the four-bedded rooms will be converted to semi-private rooms. The corridors will be remodeled with new lighting, flooring, and painting. Nurses' stations—the hub of clinical activity—will be redesigned to improve organizational capacity and smoother workflow. In addition, patient bathrooms and showers will be refurbished and other aesthetic changes will contribute to more pleasant surroundings.

The completed modernization will create a warmer, more welcoming environment for patients and their families as well as for staff. This, in turn, will have a significant impact on enhancing patient care, retaining and attracting staff, increasing Rusk's market share, and maintaining a strong referral network.
