Our Administrative team will recruit, organize and lead a Systems Genetics Institute comprising world-class faculty, students, and investigators that will integrate and collaborate with other research and clinical programs within NYU Langone Medical Center and the greater NYU community.


Dr. Jef Boeke serves as the Founding Director of the Institute. A member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, Dr. Boeke is known for his fundamental genetic and biochemical work on mechanisms of transposition in higher cells and coined the term "retrotransposon.”


Dr. Gabrielle Rieckhof worked for more than 27 years in basic research, receiving a doctorate in Drosophila genetics from Columbia and working in an array of areas including virology, developmental genetics, neurobiology, and systems biology. She serves as the Institute’s Executive Director.


Nakisha Davis serves as the Program Coordinator for the Institute for Systems Genetics.
She oversees administrative procedures for the Institute along with faculty recruitment.


Julie Oaks

Julie Oaks serves as the Executive Assistant to Dr. Jef Boeke and Dr. Gabrielle Rieckhof. She manages scheduling, handles HR related matters for the Institute, and assists with administrative tasks within the Institute for Systems Genetics.

Jessica Lorenzo

Jessica Lorenzo, MPH, is the Director of Finance in the Institute for Systems Genetics (ISG), responsible for the financial and business oversight of all grants, contracts, funds, and endowment accounts. Prior to joining ISG, she was the Director of Research Administration for the NYULMC Department of Population Health, overseeing the department’s extensive research portfolio by managing both the pre and post award administration of extramural research support. Jessica graduated from Cornell University in 2004 with a degree in sociology and a concentration in Latino studies. She went on to receive a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health from New York University.

Deji Okusanya

Deji Okusanya is the Administrative Manager for the Institute for Systems Genetics (ISG), He holds both a bachelor's in economics and a masters in business administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
