Site licensed Molecular Biology software available from the RCR

Back to the RCR Homepage

The RCR maintains a network keyserver that allows all computers in the Medical center (or anywhere on NYUnet) to run the software packages listed below. Installation disks are available from Stuart Brown in 183 MSB.

MacVector

A full featured molecular biology program for Macintosh computers. Includes integrated access to ENTREZ and BLAST over the Internet. Current version is 7.2 - supports Mac OS X.

DS Gene

A full featured molecular biology program for Windows computers, including Windows XP. (A Windows clone of MacVector).

Sequencher

A DNA sequence assembly program and multiple alignment editor. Includes a viewer for trace files (electropherograms) from automated sequencers and the ability to visually align and edit overlaps from these traces to produce optimal consensus sequences from multiple reads. Available for both Macintosh and Windows computers.

Genomics Software for Microarray data analysis

GeneTraffic

GeneTraffic is a complete microarray database and analysis environment. GeneTraffic is a web-based system, so it can be accessed from any (Windows) desktop computer with a web browser. For complete tour of GeneTraffic features, tutorials and downloadable manuals see the Iobion website. GeneTraffic accounts are available to NYU faculty for $500 per year.

GeneSpring

GeneSpring is a desktop based microarray data analysis program from Silicon Genetics, Inc. The RCR has one copy of GeneSpring available to all RCR members in the RCR public computing room (174-MSB). We also maintain a floating license for GeneSpring. NYU faculty can have a copy of GeneSpring installed on their lab or office computer to share the RCR's floating license for $1000 per year.

The RCR is working closely with the NYU Cancer Institute Genomics Facility to provide NYU scientists with easy access to the tools of genomics research from experimental design, array technology, and data analysis.
