There is a command which will tell you the name of all the currently configured printers. You can use this from the command prompt at any time.
The 'printers' command is:
lpstat -v | awk ' {print " " $3}' | tr -d '\072' | sort | less
If have a printer connected to the campus network and want to have it listed as a printer on Ranger, send email to Stuart Brown. Indicate what kind of printer it is, what name you want to use, and what room it is in so that it can be added it to the table below.
Printers whose names end in the letters 'ps' are postscript and can handle both GCG text output and graphics output. Remember that if you are running GCG from the command line, you must have executed the 'postscript' command before you run the program which creates the graphics output.
Printers whose names end in 'hp' are older Hewlett Packard printers with text-only capabilities. Please do not try to print GCG graphics (in any form) to one of these printers.
Printers available from Ranger are:
(Note that if the server is down, the printer is also unavailable.)
