Welcome to Research Computing Resource

| New York University School of Medicine | NYU Health System |
| Academic Computing |

The mission of the Research Computing Resource (RCR) is to provide support for research scientists within the NYU Medical Center who require high performance computing resources, particularly in the area of molecular biology. The RCR maintains generally accessible and regularly updated sequence databases and programs for molecular biology computing.

Why use the RCR?

The RCR's Bioinformatics course (fomerly called "Using Computers for Molecular Biology") will next be offered in the Spring of 2004
(lectures Mondays from 1:30-3:00 PM Jan 26-April 26, Coles Lab 303

Online lecture notes are available

    Automated Database Searches

The RCR has re-created a service called DBWatcher which will automatically perform weekly BLAST searches for you, comparing any query sequences that you desire against new sequences in GenBank. It only takes a few moments to set up your own DBWatcher jobs on the DBWatcher web page.

    Help Us Help YOU!!

If you are a user of the RCR it is essential that you acknowledge your use of the RCR and the NSF's support of it. When you publish papers please include a sentence similar to the following in the Acknowledgements section:

"The National Science Foundation is thanked for its support of the Computing Resources through grant BIR-9318128."
