Pediatric Rotation

Expectations of Residents in the Pediatric Rotation

Pediatric Reading Room
Residents receive complete in-patient and out patient training in the subspecialty of pediatric imaging. NYU's division of pediatric radiology is one of the largest such services in the United States, with more than 10,000 children seen and evaluated each year. Goals are not only to provide accurate diagnoses for infants, children and adolescents, but also to make these young patients (and their parents) as comfortable as possible during the various procedures.

Residents gain both theoretical and hands-on training in the performance and interpretation of plain film, contrast studies, fluoroscopic procedures, CT, ultrasound, and MRI. Topics stressed in the training include proper shielding of children, radiation dose reduction, sedation, and limitation of fluoroscopic time. House staff participate in daily conferences with pediatrics staff at Bellevue and Tisch Hospitals.
