The Vascular and Interventional Radiology section, which consists of 5 interventional radiologists, provides interventional radiology services to Tisch Hospital , Bellevue Hospital , The Hospital for Joint Disease and the Manhattan VA. The clinical service provides diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of diseases using minimally invasive, image-guided techniques. The VIR section has an active outpatient clinic and consulting service as well as an inpatient admitting service.
The VIR Division at NYU has extensive expertise in regional cancer therapy (chemoembolization, tumor ablation), uterine artery embolization for fibroids, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), renal artery stenting, peripheral vascular interventions (angioplasty, stenting, thrombectomy), vena cava filter placement, dialysis access maintenance, abscess drainage, vascular access device placement, and image-guided biopsy.
Our facilities at NYU Medical Center include three fully equipped digital subtraction angio/interventional suites, ultrasound machines, and a multidetector CT with CT fluoroscopy capabilities.
