The Radiology Education Enterprise:
Initiatives for the 21st Century

By Georgeann McGuinness and Robert I. Grossman

What Peabody observed is clearly critical to our mission — and if education is a debt due to future generations, then the NYU department of radiology is doing its part to retire the deficit.

Success in this effort is measured by how inspired the faculty are to embrace their teaching responsibilities, and to guide and mentor junior faculty and house staff, and how effectively we engage our residents and fellows. The collective educational endeavor is a vast enterprise in which we, as a department, take enormous pride. Its growth and accomplishment reflect on the leadership of Drs. McGuinness and Ambrosino, the hard work of the Education Committee, and the support of the entire department. As a department, and as individuals, we can influence the future of the field of radiology through our commitment to Radiology Education.

GEORGEANN MCGUINNESS, M.D., is Vice Chair of Education, Associate Professor of Radiology, and a member of the Thoracic Imaging Section.

ROBERT I. GROSSMAN, M.D., is the Louis Marx Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiology, and a member of the Neuroradiology Section.
