1970's
Dorothy McCauley
(NYU Radiology Residency Class of 1975) Dr. McCauley, a long-standing member of the NYU community, first as a medical student, and later as a resident and enduring faculty member in the department of radiology, is now on the faculty at Cornell-Weil School of Medicine, in the thoracic radiology section. She enjoys spending her free time at her second home in the Florida Keys.
1980’s
Patrick Toth
(NYU Radiology Residency Class of 1988; Vascular Interventional Fellowship 1989) Presently Patrick is a partner in the Hackensac Radiology Group, Hackensac University Medical Center. He is married to Hildegard Kanamuller Toth, a NYU radiology classmate who is currently the Chief of Breast Imaging at NYU. Their charming sons, Patrick (13) and Brian (11), are avid hockey players and leave their parents in the dust on the ski slopes. Patrick amuses himself by woodworking and is a specialist in crafting models of 18th Century and Shaker furniture.
1990’s
Neil Rofsky
(NYU Radiology Class of 1991, MR Fellowship 1992) “Well, its been almost 5 years since I left NYU for a great opportunity as Director of MRI at Beth Israel in Boston. I am proud to be leading an outstanding group of scientists and clinicians at BIDMC in our integrated MRI research program. We are pursuing markedly accelerated structural imaging and investing in physiologic adjuncts to the MR exam. As expected, body MRI is our major emphasis. Living in Boston since 2000 has allowed me to experience a “reverse of the curse.” Still a Yanks fan but wavering…Lisa is very happy in Boston, Anna, now 14, is very interested in drama (and boys) and Bennett, now 11, is into comedy— he emulates Mel Brooks. I am eager to hear from others! Thanks to Bob Grossman for initiating this publication!”
Brian Herts
(NYU Radiology Residency Class of 1992) “It has been more than 12 years since I finished at NYU and I still fondly remember many moments from my residency and fellowship training—from Dr. Balthazar’s late day into the evening conferences (he could keep going for hours) to Tuesday 5 pm body imaging conference. I have been on staff at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation since leaving NYU and was promoted to section head of abdominal imaging a year and a half ago. My group’s practice is varied like the NYU body fellowship—CT, MR, Ultrasound and GI fluoro work. We have 32 residents—I still find myself quoting NYU staff when I am teaching. I do research on imaging in the urinary tract, but still have many years to catch up with Dr. Bosniak’s vast experience. I am a member of the SGR, SUR and SCBT/MR with thanks to Dr. Megibow and the NYU faculty. My wife practices pediatric emergency medicine, my older son is a budding thespian and my 11 year old is a soccer fanatic which keeps us travelling from city to city for soccer games. While Cleveland is not NYC, the commute and cost of living are unbeatable. Stop in and visit the Rock Hall of Fame.”
Andrei I. Holodny
(NYU Radiology Residency Class of 1994; Neuroradiology Fellowship 1995) is the founding President of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology. He is a graduate of Columbia College and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). Following an internship in pathology at New York Hospital Cornell, Dr. Holodny was a resident and Chief Resident in Radiology at New York University. He completed his neuroradiology fellowship at New York University and was a fellow in Experimental Radiology at The National Hospital, Rikshospital in Oslo, Norway. He started his academic career at UMDNJ and rose to Associate Professor. In 2001 Dr. Holodny moved to Memorial Sloan-Kettering where he is an Associate Attending Radiologist and Director of the Functional MRI Laboratory.
Andre is a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Neuroradiology and has served on the Study Section at the NIH. He is the author of almost 50 publications and 11 chapters. He has a long-standing interest in functional MR. Dr. Holodny wishes to encourage and facilitate the introduction of functional neuroradiology into clinical neuroradiological practice. He would like to encourage the training of neuroradiologists in functional imaging and foster research in this important field.
2000’s
Mike Pollack
(NYU Radiology Class of 2003, MSK Fellowship 2004) “I am in private practice in Montclair, NJ and still live in Manhattan. I work with several NYU alumni including Matt Reuss, Ron Reese and Chuck Whelan. I am married to Melissa, and we have a 2 year old daughter named Olivia” Michael remains involved with the residents at NYU, and would like to organize opportunities for residents to gain exposure to, and knowledge in, the issues involved in private practice while still in their training.
Sandra Joo
(NYU Radiology Residency Class of 2003; Fellowship: MSKCC – Breast and Body Imaging, 2004) Sandra writes that after completing her fellowship she joined the faculty at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is primarily doing breast imaging and intervention, but does some body imaging as well. Life in NYC continues to be enjoyable.
