Notes:
- One of the more
intriguing findings related to depression is that this b-adrenergic
antagonist has a therapeutic role to play in the treatment of depression.
- Although it
has long been held that depression is a side effect of these drugs,
a reassessment of the data has shown that b-blockers do not induce
depression.
- The following
slides present data from animal studies demonstrating the antagonistic
effects of pindolol at 5-HT1A somatodendritic autoreceptors and
a lack of antagonism at postsynaptic 5-HT1A receptors in the hippocampus.
