Combination/Augmentation
Therapy
The modus operandi
of this approach is that two different treatments together may have
a different mechanism of action and therapeutic response which is
different from either drug alone.
- The addition
of a variety of compounds, both antidepressant and other, has been
shown to enhance the therapeutic response to different classes of
antidepressants.
- Following a
brief review of combination therapies, the remainder of this lecture
will focus on augmentation strategies.
