The Consultation and Treatment Service Committee runs the treatment
clinic of the Institute for adults, children, and adolescents.
The service invites anyone interested in psychoanalytic treatment
to apply by calling or emailing the Institute office to request
an application. Clinic committee members administer the triage of
patients to psychoanalysis, psychotherapy preparatory to analysis,
or psychotherapy, by working closely with candidates and faculty
members who see clinic applicants in consultation. The committee
fosters the transition from consultation to treatment.
Treatment is usually offered by trainees in either the psychoanalytic
or the psychotherapy programs. The clinic works closely with the
Student Progression Committee, the Case Development Supervisory
program, and the Psychotherapy Committee. In addition to general
administrative clinic functions, the committee is involved in marketing
the clinical service to the New York community.
